a global chemical manufacturer
The STEPANFOAM® line of pourable and sprayable polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams has four decades of proven performance in a variety of aerospace, defense and other specialty applications. These range from electronic potting of antennas and radomes to composite cores, prototype tooling, cryogenic insulation and blast resistance. High-temperature RTM and autoclave capable products are also available. Stepan will certify conformance of its STEPANFOAMs to a range of military and prime-contractor material specifications. New areas of development include wind turbine blades and liquid-hydrogen fuel cell insulation.
Why STEPANFOAM®?
Molding foam by pouring, spraying or injecting allows for quick, efficient reproducibility of parts. The process is low cost compared with large machining operations, and it eliminates the need for post-processing of the foam, such as gluing. Users can fill complex geometries and easily encapsulate internal components while reducing the amount of scrap produced by fabricating blocks and sheets. The finished part density can also be easily customized by molding smaller or larger amounts of liquid material, and the self-skinning nature of moldable foams enhances part aesthetics and reduces moisture infiltration.
