Powder Coating Resins
RUCOTE polyester resins are designed with either hydroxyl or carboxyl functionality and combine with various curatives to form durable, attractive, environmentally friendly powder coatings. With Stepan's RUCOTE resins, formulators can enhance the quality, performance, and esthetic of finishes on a wide variety of substrates. Stepan manufactures RUCOTE resins in its ISO 9001:2008 certified production facility in Columbus, GA.
Stepan Company also manufactures STEPANFOAM systems, which include products for commercial roofing, wall insulation, pre-insulated pipe and other industrial applications, as well as Engineered Specialty Foams for use in a variety of aerospace, defense and other specialty composites makets.
Phthalic anhydride (P.A.) is an important part of Stepan’s Polymers division. In addition to being used in many of our polyester polyol chemistry, phthalic anhydride is a key raw material for plasticizers and unsaturated polyester resins. Stepan manufactures P.A. in its ISO 9001:2008 certified production site in Millsdale, Illinois.
Stepan’s polyester polyols, used in rigid foam insulation, offer impressive sustainability advantage, contributing to significant energy savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Sales of Stepan’s polyester polyol in 2013 contributed to saving 67 million barrels of oil. Over a twenty-year period, covering the life-span of polyiso insulating boards, Stepan’s polyester polyols have contributed to 837 million barrels of oil saved.
