The STEPANFOAM® line of polyisocyanurate and polyurethane pour foams and spray foams has over four decades of proven performance in a variety of aerospace, defense and other specialty industries. Key applications include electronic potting of antennas and radomes, composite cores, prototype tooling, cryogenic insulation and blast resistance. High-temperature RTM and autoclave-capable products are also available. Stepan will certify that its STEPANFOAM line conforms to a wide range of military and prime-contractor performance specifications.
Why Expanding Foam?
Molding expanding foam by pouring, spraying or injecting allows for quick, efficient reproducibility of parts. The process is low-cost compared to large machining operations, and eliminates the need for post-processing of the foam, such as gluing. Users can fill complex geometries and easily encapsulate internal components while reducing the amount of waste produced by fabricating blocks and sheets. The finished part density can also be easily customized by molding different quantities of liquid material. Finally, the self-skinning nature of expanding foams enhances component aesthetics and reduces moisture infiltration.
